Senior Accountant | Leichhardt | Hybrid | $100,000-$120,000 + Super

A well-established Chartered Accounting firm based in Leichhardt is seeking an experienced Senior Business Services Accountant to join its growing team.

The firm works with a diverse portfolio of business clients, providing tailored accounting, taxation and advisory services to help clients manage compliance, improve financial performance and plan for future growth.

With a strong focus on practical, data-driven advice and long-term client relationships, the firm offers a collaborative environment where accountants can continue to develop their technical and advisory skills.

The firm also holds its own AFSL and SMSF audit license, providing exposure to a broader range of accounting and advisory services.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant looking to take ownership of a portfolio and develop their career within a supportive public practice environment.

You will work closely with business owners and managers, providing high-quality accounting, taxation and advisory support across a diverse range of clients and industries.

The role is based in Leichhardt and offers a hybrid working arrangement, with flexibility to work from home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of SME and family business clients
  • Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
  • Prepare and review income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
  • Work across SMSF accounting and compliance
  • Prepare and review BAS, GST, FBT and payroll-related compliance
  • Complete reconciliations and ensure accuracy across client files
  • Review work prepared by junior accountants
  • Provide direct client communication and ongoing support
  • Assist with tax planning and business advisory services
  • Interpret financial information and provide practical recommendations
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional services to clients
  • Assist with strategic planning and business development activities
  • Work closely with Partners and senior team members
  • Manage multiple engagements and ensure deadlines are consistently met
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of processes and systems
Ideally, You’ll Have
  • 5+ years' Australian accounting experience
  • Previous experience within public practice or business services
  • Strong technical knowledge across accounting and taxation
  • Experience working with SME and family business clients
  • Strong knowledge of BAS, GST, FBT, payroll and superannuation requirements
  • Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns across multiple structures
  • CA/CPA qualified or currently working towards qualification
  • Strong client-facing and advisory skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage your own portfolio and work to deadlines
  • Experience with Xero, BGL, MYOB and/or QuickBooks
  • Strong Excel skills
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to your work
