An established Melbourne practice is looking to add a Senior Associate-level lawyer to its Owners Corporation team, with a particular focus on the significant volume of litigation work coming through the practice.
This is an opportunity to step into a team with a genuine need for senior litigation capability. You’ll work closely with experienced practitioners across Owners Corporation, property and building litigation, while having the autonomy to run your own matters and deal directly with clients.
The practice acts for Owners Corporations and committees across a broad range of complex and often highly contested disputes. Matters can include:
- Building defects and associated litigation
- Owners Corporation disputes and committee matters
- Property and property-related litigation
- Adverse possession claims
- Levy recovery and disputes
- Compulsory acquisition matters
- A mix of smaller day-to-day disputes through to substantial litigation files
There is a particularly strong pipeline of litigation work, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys the strategy, advocacy and problem-solving that comes with contentious property matters.
Owners Corporation experience would be highly regarded, but it is not essential. The team is very open to lawyers coming from:
- Property litigation
- Building and construction litigation
- Commercial/property disputes
- Commercial litigation, where there is a genuine interest in developing an Owners Corporation practice
What matters most is that you have a strong litigation backbone, are comfortable getting across complex disputes and are keen to build your expertise in the Owners Corporation space.
You’ll need to be someone who can hit the ground running, take ownership of your files and confidently work through matters with a high degree of autonomy, while still having experienced practitioners around you for support and collaboration.
This is more than simply stepping into another Owners Corporation position - you’ll be joining a standalone Owners Corporation practice with a strong property and litigation focus, at a time when the demand for litigation expertise is particularly high. Your experience will be genuinely valued, and there is scope to take ownership of significant matters and become a key part of the team.
