This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Personal Injury Paralegal who enjoys being hands-on, wants ownership of their files and is looking to work alongside experienced practitioners in a supportive environment.
You'll play a key role in supporting solicitors across a busy portfolio of NSW statutory Workers Compensation matters, with exposure to matters from initial instructions through to resolution and Personal Injury Commission proceedings.
Your responsibilities will include: - Managing and progressing a portfolio of NSW Workers Compensation files
- Assisting solicitors with case strategy and matter progression
- Preparing applications, submissions, statements and supporting documentation
- Drafting correspondence and letters of instruction to medical and other experts
- Preparing applications to the Personal Injury Commission (PIC)
- Reviewing insurer responses, dispute notices and other relevant documentation
- Reviewing medical records, clinical evidence, employer material and expert reports
- Assisting clients to challenge decisions regarding weekly benefits, medical expenses and other entitlements
- Progressing permanent impairment claims
- Preparing applications for funding through the Independent Review Office (IRO)
- Liaising directly with injured workers and keeping clients updated throughout their matters
- Communicating with treating doctors, medico-legal experts, insurers and employers
- Managing deadlines and ensuring matters are progressed efficiently and accurately

About You We're looking for someone who already has a strong foundation in personal injury law and is confident working within the NSW Workers Compensation framework.
- 3+ years' experience as a paralegal in personal injury law
- Strong NSW Workers Compensation experience – essential
- Experience with statutory benefit disputes and/or PIC matters
- A good understanding of the NSW Workers Compensation claims and dispute pathway
- Exposure to work capacity decisions, s60, s66 and s78 disputes and IRO funding
- Excellent drafting and written communication skills
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- The ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines
- Confidence communicating directly with clients and external stakeholders
- Experience with legal practice management systems – Smokeball preferred
- A genuine interest in developing your career within personal injury law
