THE FIRM
This is a modern, growth focused practice known for delivering high quality commercial and private client advice while fostering an exceptional workplace culture. The firm has built a strong reputation with high calibre clients, many of whom have longstanding relationships across multiple practice areas. With a highly efficient Operations Team, streamlined systems, and a sophisticated marketing and BD function, lawyers are supported to focus on what they do best, delivering high level legal work and developing their practice. The environment is collegiate, ambitious and genuinely people first.
THE ROLE
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Employment Lawyer to join at Special Counsel or Director level (depending on practice size). You will work across the full spectrum of employment matters, both advisory and contentious and representing predominantly employer clients. Your practice will resemble the complexity and variety typically found in mid-tier firms.
You will work alongside senior practitioners to manage and grow an already busy practice, with the clear opportunity to step into a leadership role and ultimately lead the Employment Team. Candidates joining at Special Counsel level will have a tailored Pathway to Directorship mapped out from day one.
A transferable practice of $250k+ is required to ensure balanced workflow across the team, and candidates should bring strong pedigree, stable career history and a collaborative, commercially minded approach. Expected billables are likely to be 5 hours per day.
THE BENEFITS
The firm offers one of the most comprehensive and attractive benefits packages in the market, including:
• Development – allocated $5,000 per year for professional development, from specialist courses to Masters subjects.
• Annual International Retreat – All-expenses-paid trips for the entire firm, with previous retreats held in South Korea, Japan and Thailand.
• Wellness Program – Bi-monthly activities including yoga, meditation, breathwork, ergonomics sessions and office massages.
• Extra Week of Leave – An additional week of paid annual leave each year for rest, hobbies, volunteering or travel.
• Paid Parental Leave – Paid parental policy in place, with flexible return to work arrangements.
• Work From Home Flexibility – Tailored arrangements to suit personal preferences and working style.
• Excellent Internal Support – Minimal admin, no write off forms, efficient systems and dedicated Operations and Marketing teams.
• Strong BD Infrastructure – High quality marketing support, firm wide and team based BD initiatives, premium client events and rapid turnaround on capability materials.
• Office Perks – Friday cocktails, regular social activities, standing desks, barista quality coffee, breakfast, fruit and snacks.
This is a standout opportunity for a senior employment law specialist looking to step into genuine leadership potential within a progressive and well-resourced firm.
