About the Opportunity We are partnering with a well regarded family law practice known for its supportive culture, strong client focus, and high quality work across the full spectrum of family law. The team is seeking a 2nd year Family Lawyer to step into a development focused role, with a clear pathway to take on more responsibility as the practice continues to grow.
This role has been created to bring in someone who can grow steadily over the next 12–18 months, and eventually act as a mentor and support for new juniors as the team grows. This is a rare opportunity for someone early in their career who wants meaningful progression, hands on experience, and a collaborative environment where their development is prioritised.
What You’ll Be Doing You’ll work across a broad mix of matters, generally including parenting and property matters, intervention orders and child support.
Your responsibilities will include: - Preparing affidavits, Initiating Applications, Responses, Financial Statements, Consent Orders, Binding Financial Agreements, Court Orders, briefs and letters of advice
- Drafting high quality correspondence with accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Reviewing and summarising subpoena material, financial documents and discovery
- Diary and time management
- Liaising with clients, barristers and experts
- Supporting billing and end of month processes
- Opening and closing matter files with accuracy
- Providing clear, detailed client advice across complex documents and correspondence
- Managing deadlines in a fast paced practice
What We’re Looking For - Around 2 years’ PQE, ideally with family law experience
- Strong drafting skills and familiarity with core family law documents
- High attention to detail and strong written communication
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
- A proactive, motivated approach with a desire to grow into a more senior role
- Strong commercial awareness and excellent file management skills
- Confidence working with clients and handling competing deadlines
