The Firm Our client is a boutique accounting and advisory firm with over 75 years of history, based in Melbourne’s inner eastern suburbs. The firm works closely with SMEs, family businesses, and high-net-worth private clients, providing services across tax compliance, business advisory, structuring, superannuation, and succession planning.
With a team of around 8 in Melbourne and 12 in their recently acquired Gold Coast office (supported by an offshore team), the firm offers a close-knit environment where staff are trusted early and given genuine responsibility.

The Role This is an excellent opportunity for an Intermediate Accountant with 3–5 years’ experience in public practice who is looking to broaden their technical and advisory skills.
You’ll work directly with the Partners and gain exposure to more complex client matters beyond standard compliance work, with strong support and ongoing development.
You will be responsible for:
- Preparing financial statements for companies, trusts, individuals, and group structures
- Preparing income tax returns and supporting tax reconciliations
- Division 7A calculations and CGT work
- Preparing BAS and IAS and managing related compliance obligations
- Assisting with tax planning and advisory work, particularly around year-end
- Liaising directly with clients and the ATO
- Maintaining high-quality workpapers and supporting senior team members
- Collaborating with offshore support teams to manage workflow efficiently
About You - 3–5 years’ experience in Australian public practice
- Degree qualified in Accounting or Commerce
- CA or CPA commenced, completed, or near completion
- Strong experience with Xero highly regarded
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage your workload independently
- A proactive team player with a willingness to learn
