I am working with a well established Melbourne plaintiff firm seeking a Lawyer with experience in institutional abuse and/or personal injury matters to join its close knit and highly regarded team.
This opportunity would suit a lawyer with approximately 2-5+ years' PQE, ideally with experience in institutional abuse claims. The role offers the chance to manage meaningful and complex matters with a high degree of autonomy while receiving support and guidance from an experienced and approachable senior practitioner.
Unlike many personal injury roles, success here is measured by outcomes for clients rather than rigid billing targets. The team is focused on delivering exceptional service, achieving strong results and supporting one another in a collaborative environment.
You will work across a varied and rewarding plaintiff practice, with a strong focus on: - Institutional abuse claims
- Claims against government entities and organisations
- Historical abuse matters involving schools, detention facilities and religious institutions
- Medical negligence claims
- Superannuation and related compensation matters
You will have carriage of your own files and be trusted to run matters with a significant degree of independence. For more experienced candidates, there may also be an opportunity to supervise a junior lawyer.
What Makes This Opportunity Different? - Meaningful and impactful work that genuinely changes clients' lives
- High level of autonomy and ownership over your matters
- Direct access to an experienced practitioner for support and mentoring when required
- No unrealistic billable hour culture
- Friendly and down to earth team environment
- Hybrid working arrangements available
- Genuine pathway to Associate and, longer term, Salary Partner
- Annual salary reviews
- Law Institute and Practising Certificate fees covered
- Social events, team lunches and a collaborative office culture
- Extended Christmas shutdown period
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: - 2-5+ years post admission experience
- Experience in institutional abuse matters and/or plaintiff personal injury litigation
- Strong file management and client relationship skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- The confidence to work autonomously while knowing when to seek guidance
- A genuine commitment to achieving positive outcomes for clients
Lawyers with direct institutional abuse experience will be highly regarded. Candidates from broader plaintiff personal injury backgrounds may also be considered, provided they have experience managing litigation matters.
If you are looking for a role that combines complex and rewarding work, genuine autonomy and a clear path for career progression within a supportive team, I would welcome a confidential discussion.
