I’m currently partnering with a respected Melbourne law firm seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join their established Commercial Litigation team.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior lawyers on a diverse range of complex matters, while also playing a key role in supporting and mentoring junior team members. It would suit someone who enjoys litigation work and thrives in a busy, team-focused environment.
The Opportunity:You’ll be supporting a busy litigation practice working across:
- General Litigation
- Building & Construction disputes
- Bankruptcy & Insolvency
- Employment disputes
You will work closely with a Director and three lawyers, playing a key role in keeping matters running smoothly and ensuring high-quality documentation and support.
Key Responsibilities: - Diary and inbox management for fee earners
- Managing electronic and physical files
- Preparing court documents including affidavits, briefs, statutory declarations, summons and originating motions
- Assisting with litigation documentation and court filing
- Preparing client billing through ActionStep
- Formatting and managing complex legal documents
- Liaising with clients, barristers and external parties
- Supporting junior team members and mentoring where required
- Digital dictation and document preparation
Systems & Technology which you will use: - ActionStep
- NetDocuments
- Phillips Dictation
- Court Connect
- RedCrest
- EFAS
Experience with these systems is beneficial but not essential.
To be successful in this role you will have: - 3+ years’ experience as a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk
- Previous experience supporting litigation matters
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and court documentation
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- A proactive and professional approach to your work
- The ability to work autonomously while supporting a busy legal team
