- Complex litigation work with builders and homeowners
- Work-life balance with generous targets and WFH after 6 months
- Career progression or a stepping stone to a top-tier firm
This boutique Melbourne-based firm is highly regarded in the building and construction litigation space, handling a range of sophisticated, multi-party disputes. With a reputation for excellence, the team advises both builders and homeowners on matters spanning VCAT, County and Supreme Court litigation, including domestic building disputes, security of payment, insolvency, and owners corporation matters. This is not a front-end "men in hard hats" role - it's high-end, strategy driven litigation with real industry impact.
You'll join a tight knit team of 8, including senior lawyers, high performing paralegals, and a Principal who is a hands on mentor. The successful candidate will have 2+ years’ post-admission experience, with exposure to litigation (ideally building & construction) and a genuine interest in this space. After an initial structured mentoring period, you’ll have the autonomy to run your own files, with ongoing support from senior colleagues.
What you'll be doing: - Acting for both builders and homeowners in complex domestic building disputes
- Court appearances in VCAT, County and Supreme Courts
- Working across high value, multi-party matters with major insurers, developers, and construction professionals
- Engaging with a close network of barristers, experts, and industry stakeholders
- Building strong, long term client relationships with direct client contact
- Learning and growing in a supportive, collaborative environment
Why join this firm? - No billable hour pressure – realistic targets
- Work-from-home flexibility after the mentoring period
- CPDs covered, plus access to industry events and training led by an expert in the field
- A genuinely supportive culture, with a team that sticks together - even after they move on
- Real progression – either within the firm or as a launchpad to top-tier construction litigation roles
- Great team energy with excellent paralegal support and a strong reputation across the sector
- Mentoring from a respected industry leader and current chairperson of the LIV Building & Construction Committee
This role is ideal for someone ambitious, curious, and ready to get their hands dirty in complex litigation work. Whether you're looking to grow your career within a specialist boutique or build a pathway to a larger firm, this is a rare opportunity to work alongside the best in the field, and make your mark.
