Our client is a well-established accounting and advisory firm based in Melbourne. The role sits within a partner-led team supporting a diverse client base ranging from sole traders through to large-scale property groups, including one client with a portfolio exceeding $300 million.
The Role This is a senior-level position focused on end-to-end accounting, technical review work, and supporting junior staff within the team. You will also have direct involvement in client communication and, as you progress in the role, ATO engagement and correspondence.
This role is suited to a Senior Accountant level with strong technical tax capability, particularly across areas such as Division 7A, compliance, and general tax matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing financial statements and tax returns prepared by junior staff
- Managing end-to-end compliance workflows across a varied client base
- Providing technical tax support
- Assisting with tax planning and year-end advisory work alongside senior team members
- Liaising with clients and the ATO where required
- Supporting and mentoring junior accountants and contributing to team development
- Assisting with workflow management and ensuring deadlines are met
About You
- Approximately 5+ years’ experience in Australian public practice
- Strong technical tax and compliance knowledge, including Division 7A
- CA or CPA qualified, or currently commenced (study support provided)
- Confident reviewing work and guiding junior staff
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative, team-first approach
- Able to manage competing deadlines and work across a broad client base
