Key Responsibilities - Manage complex family law matters, including parenting and property disputes
- Handle high value property settlements and associated financial matters
- Provide expert advice to high-net-worth clients alongside everyday family law matters
- Supervise junior lawyers where applicable and liaise with experienced legal assistants who support file management, disclosure review, drafting, and client communication
- Participate in strategic decision making and contribute to the ongoing growth of the practice
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be:
- Have a proven track record in family law
- Operating at Special Counsel level (or a very strong Senior Associate ready for the step up)
- Experienced in managing complex property matters
- Capable of running matters autonomously, while valuing collaboration and mentoring opportunities
- Open to obtaining or holding accreditation (highly valued by the firm)
- Interested in long-term career growth, with potential partnership opportunities
The Team & Culture
This is a close knit, highly collaborative team of 10+ lawyers, supported by a skilled legal assistant team. The culture is warm, friendly, and genuinely supportive, with no hierarchy or internal competition. Lawyers enjoy autonomy while having access to strong mentorship, clear processes, and high quality administrative support.
The firm is highly flexible, offering hybrid arrangements (3 days in the office, 2 remote) and the option for part-time arrangements for senior lawyers. Billable targets are modest (5 hours per day), reflecting the firm’s commitment to work/life balance.
Benefits & Perks - Annual salary reviews
- Generous leave provisions, including birthday leave and the day before Cup Day off
- Monthly social events, Friday drinks, mid-year and end-of-year celebrations
- Support for professional development, including accreditation and ongoing training
